All the six franchises announced their teams for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 on Monday, July 6. The league would be held between August 18 to September 10. The inaugural match is scheduled for August 19th in Trinidad and Tobago. The entire tournament would be held at the same place in the light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Also, the entire selection process was organized remotely for CPL 2020.
A CPL statement read, “The draft was carried out remotely and the six teams have successfully filled out their rosters with both the Caribbean and overseas players with Rashid Khan, Marcus Stoinis, Ross Taylor, Tambe, and Carlos Brathwaite all being signed up.”
The most talked cricketer of CPL 2020 draft is Pravin Tambe as he would be the first Indian to play in the Caribbean league. He was picked by Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) which is co-owned by Bollywood celebrity Shahrukh khan. The 48-year-old took the decision of participating in the overseas league after BCCI suspended him from playing in IPL 2020 for defying the rules laid out by the board.
