What Does Dominican Republic’s Border Wall Mean for Haiti?

Following the unrest after the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, the president of the Dominican Republic is closing its border with Haiti due to growing fears of disorder.

The Dominican government took it a step further by building a wall that will cover almost half of its 244-mile border with Haiti. Its stated goal is to stop irregular migration and smuggling and something the president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, describes as having “benefit” for both nations.
